First opened in late 2019, we have fast become a home from home for Leith locals, newcomers and visitors alike.
We are open from midday ’til late, 7 days a week, offering up a great selection of drinks and nibbles in comfortable, colourful, quirky surroundings, with warm, welcoming and attentive service.
Our wee Abode is a cafe by day, bar by night, and has a relaxed, friendly and bustling vibe. Our focus is on great, locally supplied products; our tap beers are supplied by two of Edinburgh’s best craft brewers – Barney’s Beer and Campervan Brewery. We have an exciting and unusual selection of over 20 wines by the glass, and our coffee is supplied by local roastery Machina Espresso. Whilst we don’t have a kitchen, we do have an array of delicious nibbles including cakes by local baker Kiwi Bakes, sourdough grilled cheese, and our famous cheese and charcuterie boards featuring ingredients from East Coast Cured and I.J. Mellis Cheesemonger.
With cosy corners inside and sunny tables outside, we are the perfect place to start, spend or end your day, all year round.
Whilst walk-ins are very welcome, we are table-service only and often quite busy, so booking ahead to avoid disappointment is recommended – see below for how to contact us.
Our fridges are well stocked with local and international beers in cans and bottles, perfectly complementing our top-notch tap range, provided by local brewing legends Barney's Beer and Campervan Brewery.
"Housed in a 1900s horse stable in one of Edinburgh’s quirkiest arts venues, Barney’s Beer set out in 2012 to modernise traditional brews and breathe new life in to them."
We currently serve three of Barney's delicious beers on tap:
"We are a brewery with a passion for quality beer and a thirst for travel. Our adventures take us on the quest for unusual places to brew, discovering flavoursome ingredients along the way, direct from their source."
Along with some weird and wonderful Campervan beers in cans, we have these two beauties on tap:
Our list features more than 20 delicious wines, all available by the glass, and changes on a regular basis. We try to avoid the "usual suspect" grape varieties found in most bars, instead opting for slightly lesser-known and more unusual wines. We think it's exciting to try something a little different, and are always happy to advise on which of our wines would make a good substitue for your usual go-to. In the process, we hope to help you discover some new favourites!
